The Central Government establishes a Council in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 28 of the National Institutes of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management Act 2021.

Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, vide Notification S.O. 5577(E) dated 3rd December, 2025, established a Council under the authority of sub-section (1) of section 28 of the National Institutes of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management Act 2021 (19 of 2021). The Council comprises various ex-officio members including the Minister in-charge of Food Processing Industries (Chairperson), Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Chairperson of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Secretary to the Government of India in-charge of Finance, Chief Executive Officer of the National Institution for Transforming India, and Secretary Higher Education. Additionally, it includes three representatives from the Food Processing Industry: Shri Paritosh Ladhani (Joint Managing Director, SLMG Beverages and Sincere Developers), Shri Vikas Lakhani (Founder & Director – InstaOffice), and Shri R. Raj Kumar (MD, Sarak Multi Sector Pvt Ltd). Three eminent academicians, Shri Ganesh Ramamurthi (Chief Quality Officer, Staragri Warehousing & Collateral Management Ltd.), Dr. S.N. Jha (Deputy Director General, Agricultural Engineering, Indian Council of Agricultural Research), and Prof. K.K. Pant (Director IIT Roorkee), are also appointed. Three Members of Parliament, Sh. Atul Garg and Dr. M. K. Vishnu Prasad from the House of the People, and Shri Ram Chander Jangra from the Council of States, are included. The Secretary to the Government of India in-charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries serves as the ex-officio Member-Secretary.
