Core Purpose

Amends the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela Statutes, 2017, concerning the functions of the Chairperson of the Board of Governors in specific scenarios.

Detailed Summary

This notification amends the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela Statutes, 2017, by inserting sub-statute (v) in Statute 14. This new provision addresses scenarios where the Chairperson of the Board of Governors is vacant or unable to perform their duties due to expiry of tenure, death, resignation, illness, or other reasons. In such situations, the Chairperson of an Institute of National Importance may be appointed, with the Visitor's approval, to discharge the functions of the Chairperson for a period of up to six months or until a regular Chairperson is nominated, whichever occurs first. Furthermore, in case of tenure expiry, the Visitor is empowered to extend the term of the incumbent Chairperson for a period of six months or until the nomination of a regular Chairperson, whichever is earlier. Additionally, sub-statute (15) of Statute 17 is omitted from the principal statutes.
