This exemption is conditional upon these fishing boats carrying equipment as prescribed in the following rules and regulations and maintaining them in efficient condition: - The Merchant Shipping (Fire Appliances) Rules, 1990; - The Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Collisions at Sea) Regulations, 1975; - The Merchant Shipping (Life Saving Appliances) Rules, 1991; - The Merchant Shipping (Distress and Safety Radio Communication) Rules, 1995.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-04022025-260770 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 612] NEW DELHI, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2025/MAGHA 15, 1946 MINISTRY OF PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS ORDER New Delhi, the 4th February, 2025 S.O. 616(E). — In exercise of the powers conferred by section 435 X of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 (44 of 1958) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is impracticable to comply with the requirements of the rules made under Part XVA (Fishing Boats) of the said Act, hereby exempts the Indian fishing boats of less than 24 meters in length from the requirements of the Merchant Shipping (Indian Fishing Boats Inspection) Rules, 1988, subject to the condition that such fishing boats carry the equipment prescribed in the following rules and regulations and the same are maintained in efficient condition, namely:- 1. The Merchant Shipping (Fire Appliances) Rules, 1990; 2. The Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Collisions at Sea) Regulations, 1975; 3.
