The Bureau of Indian Standards, operating under the Department of Consumer Affairs, issued a notification from New Delhi on August 27, 2025 (Ref: HQ-PUB013/1/2020-PUB-BIS (1316)). In accordance with Sub-rule (1) of Rule (15) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018, this notification announces the establishment of various new Indian Standards. The particulars of these newly established standards, including their numbers, years, and titles, are detailed in the second column of the annexed schedule, with their establishment dates (all listed as August 21, 2025) in the third column. Concurrently, existing Indian Standards, if any, as specified in the fourth column, will remain in force until their designated withdrawal dates (all listed as February 21, 2026) in the fifth column. Examples of established standards include IS 1061: 2025 for Disinfectant Fluids, Phenolic Type (Sixth Revision); IS 3025 (Part 38): 2025 for Methods of Sampling and Test (Physical and Chemical) for Water and Wastewater Part 38 Dissolved Oxygen (Second Revision); and IS 19174: 2025 for Adaptors for Household and Similar Purposes (IEC 60884-2-5 : 2017, MOD). Correspondingly, previous revisions such as IS 1061: 2017 and IS 3025 (Part 38): 1989 are slated for withdrawal. Some established standards, like IS/ISO/TS 14074: 2022 for Environmental Management — Life Cycle Assessment, do not have corresponding standards for withdrawal.
