This order from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) (S.O. 4277(E), dated 30th September 2024), issued in exercise of powers under sub-sections (1) and (2) of Section 16 read with sub-section (3) of Section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, makes the Toys (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, further amending the Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020. In paragraph 3 of the principal Order, after the third proviso, a new proviso is inserted exempting from the Order the import of up to 300 units per financial year (maximum 5 samples of each type) of toys and related parts for research and development purposes, by manufacturers certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards or who have applied for certification, provided such imported goods are not sold commercially, are disposed of as scrap, and a year-wise record is maintained and furnished with a declaration to DPIIT. L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-01102024-257632 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 3918] NEW DELHI, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2024/ASVINA 9, 1946 MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) ORDER New Delhi, the 30th September, 2024 S.O. 4277(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 16 read with sub- section (3) of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), the Central Government, after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, is of the opinion that it is necessary and expedient so to do in the public interest, hereby makes the following Order further to amend the Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020, namely:- 1. (1) This Order may be called the Toys (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024. (2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020, in paragraph 3, after the third proviso, the following proviso shall be inserted, namely: - “Provided also that nothing in this Order shall apply to import of up to 300 numbers (max 5 nos each type of samples) of goods and articles per financial year for the purpose of research and development for Toys and related parts by each of the manufacturers who are certified by the Bureau or manufacturer who has applied to the Bureau, subject to the condition that such imported goods and articles will not be sold commercially and shall be disposed of as scrap and also such manufacturers shall maintain a year – wise record of such goods or articles and furnish the same to the Central Government with a declaration made to this effect" to the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT).
