The committee's function is to advise the Department of Posts on implementing the principles of the Official Language Act and rules, as well as policy decisions and directions from the Kendriya Hindi Samiti and the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, regarding the use of Hindi in official work. The committee's tenure is three years from the date of reconstitution, with specific conditions for Members of Parliament, ex-officio members, and those filling vacancies. Travelling and Daily Allowances for non-official members will be paid according to guidelines in Department of Official Language O.M. No.II/20034/4/86-O.L. (A-2) dated 22nd January, 1987. Deputy Director General (Trg, Welfare, WS & OL) Member-Secretary Functions of Committee The functions of the Committee will be to render advice to Department of Posts for implementation of the principles relating to Official Language as given in the Official Language Act and rules, policy decisions and directions of the Kendriya Hindi Samiti and the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs with regard to use of Hindi in official work. Tenure of Committee The tenure of the Committee will be three years from the date of its reconstitution provided that: - (a) A member, who is a Member of Parliament, will cease to be a member of Committee as soon as he ceases to be a Member of Parliament. (b) Ex-officio members of the Committee shall continue as members so long as they hold the office by virtue of which they are members of the Committee; and (c) A member nominated in a vacancy arising in the Committee due to resignation of any member or by any other reason, shall hold office for the residual term. TRAVELLING AND OTHER ALLOWANCES (a) Travelling Allowance and Daily Allowance to other non-official members of the Committee will be paid as per the guidelines contained in the Department of Official Language O.M. No.II/20034/4/86-O.L. (A-2) dated 22nd January, 1987 and in accordance with the prescribed rate and rules as amended from time to time by the Government of India. (b) The Headquarters of the Committee shall be at New Delhi. The meetings of this Committee will be generally conducted at New Delhi.
