L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-10012025-260132 EXTRAORDINARY PART III-Section 4 PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 37] NEW DELHI, FRIDAY, JANUARY 10, 2025/PAUSHA 20, 1946 BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 9th January, 2025 No. BCI:D: 62/2025. - The General Council of Bar Council of India has resolved vide resolution dated 07.12.2024 taken under item No. 166/2024 that there shall be a post of Principal Secretary in addition to the Secretary in the Council. General Council directed the office to take steps to publish the names along with details and respective designations of the present officials of Bar Council of India, which are as follows:- 1. Mr. Srimanto Sen (Principal Secretary) S/o-Sh. Shantonu Sen, D.O.B-28.01.1974, D.O.J- 26.09.2016. 2. Mr. Ashok Kumar Pandey (Secretary) S/o-Sh. S. L. Pandey, D.O.B.-03.08.1975, D.O.J.-01.10.2012 3. Mr. Nalin Raj Chaturvedi (Additional Secretary) S/o- Late. Sh. Rewati Raman Chaubey, D.O.B- 24.07.1982, D.O.J.-01.10.2012 4. Mr. Awanish Kumar Pandey, (Additional Secretary) S/o- Late. Sh. Ramekbal Pandey, D.O.B- 01.06.1970, D.O.J.- 01.10.2012 5. Mr. Anil Kumar, (Assistant Secretary) S/o- Late. Sh. Manget Ram, D.O.B- 15.07.1966, D.O.J.- 05.09.1997. 6. Mr. Deepak Kumar, (Assistant Secretary) S/o- Sh. Dayanand Bhatt, D.O.B- 25.12.1979, D.O.J.- 09.10.2009. The General Council further resolved that any disciplinary action or supervisory work with regard to any of the employee below the rank of Joint Secretary shall be undertaken by the Committee consisting of the Principal Secretary, the Secretary and the Additional Secretaries and the Joint Secretary. All these officers shall have independent charges/responsibilities of their respective departments/duties/assignments and there shall be no interference in the functioning/working of one officer by any other officer. The final decision in the matters of disciplinary proceedings against any subordinate/staff shall be taken by way of the majority of votes, all the officers upto the rank of Joint Secretary shall have one vote each in such matters. The minutes of the Council shall be signed by the Hon'ble Chairman on the one hand and the Principal Secretary, the Secretary, the Additional Secretaries on the other hand. A minimum of two signatures from among any of the above named officers would be necessary on the minutes in addition to the signature of the Chairman, BCI. Any sort of disciplinary action could be initiated or taken against the Principal Secretary, Secretary, Additional Secretary and/or Joint Secretary by the Executive Committee of the Council only. The final decision with regard to any minor or major punishment shall be taken only by the Executive Committee which will need the ratification of the Council. The powers, functions and the duties of the officers and the staff shall be decided from time to time by the Hon'ble Chairman in consultation with the Chairman of the Executive Committee. The duties/assignments of the staffs will also be decided by the same Committee. However, the concerned officers will only be able and authorize to assign the duties of subordinate staff working under them. The General Council of Bar Council of India has resolved vide resolution dated 07.12.2024 taken under item No. 155/2024, which are as follows:- It is resolved to extend the tenure of Chairman & Vice-Chairman from three years to five years which will take effect from 16th April, 2025 i.e. after the next election of the office-bearers. The resolution is being adopted after through discission and deliberation and with the approval of the clear majority of Members. Obviously, there is no implied or express restrictions or prohibitions within the Advocates Act, 1961 that precludes the Council from determining or extending the term of its Office-Bearers.
